Contest: United States Landscapes

For those who don’t already know, we are hosting another contest. The theme for the month is: United States Landscapes! Of course, anyone may enter, but your photograph should have been taken on US soil. To be clear, that means you were standing on US soil when you took the shot. If you are standing in Canada and shooting into the US, it doesn’t count. But if you were standing in the US and shooting into Canada, that’s quite all right. Got it? ;)

The prize? FREE registration for all four sessions of Varina and Jay’s iHDR webinar series in March! That’s a $196.00 value! And of course, the winning image will be featured on the Visual Wilderness blog, along with a few runners-up. That’s great exposure for you and your work!

You’ll find all the information about the upcoming webinar series here. As part of these Webinars, we provide over 50MB of samples, videos, and presentation notes. If you can’t attend the iHDR session live, we will email you the link to the recorded session so you can watch it at your convenience. Of course, all registered students and the winner of this contest will receive a link to the recorded session for review at any time up to four weeks after the webinar.

We can’t wait to see your images!

I want to share a story with you guys. A funny story. In Alberta, the government hired a marketing company to promote tourism in Alberta. They spent millions and in the end, a pretty picture of some people on a beach came out on the advertising material. Now, to the eternal shame of the government, the the place where the image was taken was not Alberta but somewhere in the U.K.!! Alberta has lots of water and lakeshore, but someone either didn’t think it mattered to advertise with the material from the place promoted or didn’t know. It sure made a funny story when it hit the press!

Which reminds me…why do you have a picture of Beauty Creek, Banff, Canada to advertise your American Landscapes contest? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

Oops! Jay wasn’t thinking when he chose that shot. He was looking for a shot where he used iHDR for processing, and that’s such a nice one…

We’ll have to choose something else! Thanks for the heads-up!
