This is a shot from Two Jack lake in Banff National Park (Alberta, Canada). I love this location. It’s great for shooting sunrise or sunset, and when the surface of the lake is still, the reflections are nothing short of amazing. This is an easy spot to access. It’s just a few minutes drive from the town of Banff, and there are parking lots right next to the lake. Be sure to wander over to the wooded area nearby. It’s a beautiful place full of gnarly roots and tall pines. There’s a lovely, small island over there too – and another one near this spot, which is even smaller… but long and narrow.
I took this shot just after sunrise, as a bank of clouds rolled in over the distant mountain. Although the soft blues and green trees were lovely, I chose to convert to black and white because of the beautiful patterns and contrasting tones.
