Taughannock Falls is located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. This 215 foot falls is well worth a visit. Consider visiting on an overcast day so that bright sunlight doesn’t leave you struggling with blown highlights and heavy shadows. For color photographs, visit in Spring or Summer.

I took this shot from a bridge that crosses the river below the falls. It’s a lovely view. I chose a wide angle lens so that I could show the rapids in the foreground. I took this shot in winter, and decided to convert to black and white to show off the beautiful details and textures in the water.
