The Jewel

Jokulsarlon, Iceland

On our first night at Jökulsárlón earlier this year, we found this blue iceberg sitting all by itself on the black sand beach. As the light faded “The Jewel” began to glow against the dark waters of the ocean.

This was a simple point-and-shoot photo, but processing wasn’t so simple. I processed a single RAW image 3 times – once for the iceberg itself, once for the water and the sky, and once more for the highlights. Then, I combined the three versions to create this finished image.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it. We hope everyone can spend some time enjoying a day with family and friends… whether  you celebrate the holiday or not.
