This is a magnificent and popular location in Olympic National Park (WA) that I’ve visited many times. There are trails that lead from this place to Deer Lake and the Seven Lakes region – they are breathtaking and definitely worth a visit.
This image was a challenge to compose. I did not have a lens wide enough to capture everything I wanted within the frame, so I had to do the best I could with the lens I had on my camera. I took the shot on an overcast day, just after it had rained. The wet leaves and rocks seemed to glow in the soft light. I used a circular polarizer to help bring out details in every part of the image.
